The Friendship M.B. Church, Inc. seeks to fill the position of full-time Pastor for its congregation. Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Fort Myers, Inc. was established in 1912 and is located at 2030 Palm Ave., Fort Myers, Florida 33916.

Friendship is a friendly, family-oriented church who gives strong expression to our denominational heritage and believe in extending our evangelism and missionary efforts throughout the local community as well as abroad.

We seek a visionary pastor with strong leadership skills who will preach the unadulterated gospel of Jesus Christ, teach sound doctrine, engage in pastoral care ministries, provide spiritual leadership, provide concern and care for youth, provide development and training and act as the chief administrator of staff, both paid and unpaid.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Planning and conducting worship services; preparing and delivering sermons; leading in the observance of the church’s ordinances: baptism and Lord’s Supper.
Leading in planning, executing and evaluating comprehensive church programs of worship, education, evangelism, missions, and ministries for all ages.
Providing visitation to membership, especially those who are sick and shut-in.
Conducting pastoral counseling sessions; performing wedding ceremonies and baby dedications; conducting funerals.
Planning, teaching, and leading weekly Bible study and prayer.
Leading the deacons, trustees, church officers, and ministry leadership as they perform their assigned Responsibilities.
Training deaconry and ministerial staff for church and family ministry.
Moderating during church business meetings.
Leading a Capital Project that would consist of building a new Church Sanctuary within the next 3-5 years.
Supporting and cooperating with local District, State, and National Baptist Convention USA, Inc., associations and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern; representing the church in civic matters.
Assisting in the growth and development of church membership and ministries, especially the youth Ministry.

Minimal Qualifications:

A successful candidate must meet the following minimal qualifications:

Born-again, baptized believer in Jesus Christ with qualities and characteristics reflected in 1Timothy 3:1-7, Galatians 5:22-23 and Malachi 3:10;

Licensed and ordained as a Baptist preacher, skilled in preaching and teaching sound doctrine to individuals of all ages.

Documented experience as a senior pastor, assistant pastor or an associate minister significantly involved in church administration and ministry.

College educated and/or degree from an accredited theological seminary or school of divinity is Preferred.

Superior communication skills, both written and oral.

Must be accessible and display a love for the church and its people, especially the youth and the elderly.

Team-oriented and experienced in leading ministry teams/programs, as well as participating within teams as others lead.

Visionary, strategic thinker and planner with sound judgment and discernment.

Demonstrated ability to apply principles of financial management and work with leadership to manage the church’s resources effectively and efficiently.

Honest, committed person of integrity, who is not manipulative, easily swayed, or overly sensitive to criticism.
